It isn't for the younger ones until you put it together. My 9 year old had some trouble but it was a blast once we got it put together.

We got this as a Christmas gift for our 1 year old and it is one of his favorites. It definitely provides time for independent play. I also recently went on a longer trip and wished I had brought this too. It would fit on his lap in the car and be a great toy to entertain him for awhile.

My 1 yr old Grandson loves this. He can manipulate the shapes and work through the process of choosing which hole to put what shape into. He loves opening the drawer to find the treasures he just put in there. Great toy!
